One obvious advantage of Christian radio is that it can be understood and therefore informative among the hundreds of millions of people in the world who can’t read.
Combine that fact with its inexpensive availability to so many listeners even in remote, poorer areas, broadcasts like those by TWR become a powerful platform for taking the gospel to people who can’t read the Bible for themselves. The brief and heartwarming statement below came from one of these listeners and was recorded and passed along to us by our partner in Angola.
I came all the way to see you. My life was changed by this program. I should write a letter but don’t know how to write; therefore, I came by myself just to see you.
My village is far from here – about 200 kilometers [about 125 miles]. But because your program is the program that changed my life, I came to give you a handshake. This program is fantastic and I am sure that it was God who called you to do this job so that many people can see the light of life.
Although Christians faced persecution after Angola gained independence in the 1970s and during the lengthy civil war, the number of evangelical believers is reported to have quadrupled by 2010, according to the Operation World handbook and prayer guide.
